ACTIVITIES TO DO AT HOME THIS WINTER

With weeks after weeks of bitter cold temperatures and winter weather, it’s easy to feel stuck inside. But as we brave the cold this winter, there’s nothing quite like the comfort of home. Instead of forcing yourself outdoors, why not make the most of the season within the cozy confines of your own space? Here are some activities to help you enjoy this winter from the comfort of your home.

Winter Movie Marathon

There’s no feeling like relaxing on the couch with a cozy blanket and a good movie on the TV. Create a list of your favorites or movies you’ve been wanting to see. Whether it’s a classic, a heartwarming drama, or a hilarious comedy, you’re bound to experience both relaxation and entertainment.

Baking

Winter is the season for delicious treats and baked goods. Take advantage of this time to try out new recipes or revisit old favorites. From cookies to warm apple pies, the aroma of freshly baked goodies will fill your home with warmth and joy. Plus, you get to enjoy the delicious results!

Winter Game Night

Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you can’t still have a blast with your family and friends. Break out the Monopoly or other great board games you might have on hand and have a game day marathon. Play hide and seek with your children or build a fort. If your family and friends are far away, organize a virtual game night. Whether it’s online board games, trivia, or even a virtual escape room, this activity allows you to stay connected with your loved ones and create fun memories while staying indoors.

Indoor Picnic with Winter Flavors

Transform your living room into a cozy indoor picnic spot. Layout blankets and cushions. Prepare a spread with hearty soups, warm sandwiches, and seasonal fruits. Don’t forget some wintery snacks and beverages.

At-Home Workouts

If you’re an active person, these low temperatures don’t have to stop you from getting in some exercise. Do a mini at-home workout using weights, stream a workout video on YouTube, or utilize any at-home equipment you might have to get some physical activity. A fun and easy at-home workout to do is yoga. There are some great beginner yoga sites and apps that can help you get started. Follow your session with some meditation and feel good for the rest of the day.

Catch Up On Work or Chores

If you’re the type of person who likes to seize any extra time you have on hand to get stuff done, all of this time inside might be a good opportunity to catch up on some work or get the things done around the house that you haven’t had time for. Turn this free time into some great productivity.

Learn Something New

Many of us harbor dreams and aspirations of learning how to speak a new language or learning how to play an instrument but just never have the time to do it. You could finally use this time at home this winter to make strides towards learning something new for a few hours.

DIY Holiday Decor or Crafts

Between Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and the various other exciting holidays that are approaching, there are plenty of opportunities to get creative and craft your own holiday decor. Not only does this tap into your artistic side, but it also adds a personalized touch to your home decor. If your home is already feeling festive, have fun with some other general crafts. Get your family members and friends involved and create some fun memories indoors.

Enjoy a Good Book or Journal

Curl up with a good book on the couch. Reading books offers many overall health benefits, specifically your brain, which then trickles down to your entire body. It most importantly reduces stress and anxiety. If you feel like creating your own story instead, try journaling. Journaling daily also reduces stress and anxiety, as well as improves memory, and boosts creativity.

This winter, make the most of your time at home by engaging in some of these cozy and entertaining activities. Embrace the warmth of your surroundings, create memories, and find joy in the simple pleasures that winter brings. From movie marathons to trying something new, there’s a world of possibilities waiting for you right inside the comfort of your home.
